| Biography
Niklas Vollmer
(M.F.A., University of California, San Diego, 1996) is Assistant
Professor; his core interests lie in community-based media
production. He has produced documentaries, educational programming,
and commercials for non-profit organizations. More than
twenty film festivals throughout the United States have
screened his creative work. Vollmer has also received festival
awards for best documentary, best editing, director’s
choice, and best experimental film. He has been a Rockefeller
Film/Video/Multimedia Fellowship finalist and a Southern
Humanities Media Fund Grant Finalist. Prior to his arrival
at Georgia State, Professor Vollmer had an established production
and post-production career outside academe. He worked as
a non-linear editor for San Diego Public Television and
Vide-Post. He was a videographer for Rock The Vote, the
Museum of Contemporary Art in San Deigo, and InSITE 94.
