Biography
Dr.
Holley Wilkin (Ph.D., University of Southern California)
is an Assistant Professor, whose applied communication research
focuses on reducing health disparities in diverse urban
environments. She is an affiliated faculty member with the
GSU Partnership for Urban Health Research. Wilkin joins
the faculty after completing a postdoctoral research associate
position at the USC Annenberg School for Communication where
she worked as part of the Metamorphosis Project studying
geo-ethnic communities in Los Angeles. She uses a multi-method
approach to understanding the ecological nature of health
problems and diagnosing community health storytelling including
surveys, focus groups, interviews, content analysis of health
storytelling in media, and experiments. Wilkin’s recent
work has also concentrated on exploring the potential of
entertainment-education and new technologies for health
communication. Her research appears in the Journal of Health
Communication and Journalism. Research Areas: health communication,
media and interpersonal, communication campaigns. Degree
