Francis Ford Coppola, the celebrated director of films such as Apocalypse Now and The Godfather trilogy, recently screened his hour long documentary titled CODA: Thirty Years Later, that explores the inspirations and obstacles of his filmmaking career
After the screening of the hour-long documentary,Coppola held a question and answer session.
In addition to sharing Coppola’s thoughts about filmmaking, creativity and the nature of consciousness, CODA: Thirty Years Later takes viewers behind the scenes of his latest film, Youth Without Youth, which will be released this fall.
"He is providing his services free as part of an educational outreach on his work in cinema," said Jack Boozer, professor of communication. "The one-hour documentary film on his most recent film and his life work and experiences."
Thirty years ago, Coppola went into the jungles of the Philippines and came back with the legendary film Apocalypse Now and the searing documentary, Hearts of Darkness. Youth Without Youth is Coppola's first directing foray in a decade. Shot in Romania, the film is slated for a fall release by Sony Pictures Classics.
