Carmela Pattillo organizes advisement activity in the department, which brings her in regular contact with many of the 1900 undergraduates majoring in journalism, film, theatre, and speech. She also works closely with other staff in organizing department of communication advisement efforts (such as now regular career panel discussions). She also administratively coordinates the department’s scholarship awards and supervises a team of graduate students working in the advisement and retention areas.
Pattillo earned her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University in communication (B.A. theatre, 1992) and an M.A. from the GSU Women’s Studies Program (in 2009). In 2007 she graduated from the GSU Leadership Academy for Women. She is a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and the National Academic Advising Association.
Pattillo remains active in theatre, film and musical performance in her spare time. She’s currently writing music and a screenplay.
