.....The Ph.D. program in Public Communication in the Department of Communication at Georgia State University focuses on advanced research and teaching in the areas of rhetoric and politics, media and globalization, and audience studies. The program is designed to take roughly four years to complete (post-MA), and is organized to prepare students for careers in academia and in the affiliated industries of mass communication. Each area of concentration is connected to major grant-supported research and outreach, to the unfolding priority areas of communication scholarship, and to the unique resources of Atlanta and GSU, a comprehensive research-intensive urban university. More than $6 million has been invested in departmental research, production and teaching facilities in the past decade.
