Attention Masters Students: Fellowship Opportunity
James Woodruff, Jr., Fellowship in Media Innovation & Responsibility
The Graduate Committee is now accepting applications for the James Woodruff Jr. Fellowship in Media Innovation & Responsibility. This fellowship will offer a $6000 stipend for the 2019-2020 academic year, will be awarded to a MA student in the Mass Communication, Human Communication, or Digital Media Strategies area and is especially appropriate for students who will be in the second or final year of their program or working on their thesis or final project. The Fellowship will offer a tuition waiver for Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 and the stipend will be distributed in two (2) equal payments during Fall 2019 and Spring 2020.
Applications consist of a brief (no more than 3-4 pages) description of the project: 1) including a rationale that connects it to Mass Comm, Human Comm, and Digital Media Strategies; 2) applicants should feel free to make an argument connecting their work to audience studies, health communication, international media, journalism, media and culture, strategic communication, rhetoric or interpersonal communication; 3) lays out a claim to significance; 4) proposes a specific strategy for disseminating the outcome; 5) commits to a specific work product (not just a completion of a thesis); 6) includes copy of a resume or CV; 7) and a sealed – confidential letter from your thesis advisor or the faculty who will oversee the project, that speaks with specificity to the merits of the project, the competency of the students to complete it, and the schedule for completion.
